About Sue |
|
I have always had a hard-to-fit figure (tall/petite/pear), so started making my own clothing at age 11. In addition to achieving clothes that fit, I was able to express my individuality and creativity. Today, I find great satisfaction in using my skills to help other women fulfill their fit and style challenges and dreams. Prior to starting Fitting Sewlutions in 2003, I climbed the corporate ladder for nearly 20 years, developing strong business skills and learning to work empathetically with a variety of people. My formal education includes a B.S. degree in Finance and an MBA specializing in international business. I’m fluent in Spanish and have traveled extensively for work, study, and pleasure. Since 2003, I’ve worked with a wide range of garments, fabrics, and figures, and am thrilled to be doing what I love. I continuously work to build on my skills in fashion, sewing and design through participation in a number of master level classes, including: Specialty Alterations for Professionals - Bridal & Special Occasion with Linda Stewart Couture Sewing Techniques with Susan Khalje Pants Fitting for Profit with Joyce Simons Murphy Draping Beyond Tradition; Signature Draping Techniques with Sandra Ericson Designing the Paper Pattern with Sandra Ericson Industrial Sewing Techniques with Claire Shaeffer Tambour Beading with Robert Havens I’m also an active member of the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals, Inc. (ASDP) since 2003, and have attended several of their national educational conferences and classes. I served as ASDP’s national Treasurer in 2007/08, and am past-President and current Secretary of the Wisconsin Chapter. In my free time, I’m an avid ballroom dancer, zumba, and yoga practitioner. These hobbies inform my knowledge of the body and fabric movement, as well as the human form - and enhance my work in both designing for and fitting my clients.
